Epic Non-Beach Honeymoon: From Vegas to Angel's Landing to the Grand Canyon

Most people think of the beach when they dream about their honeymoon — but not us. No, my husband and I prefer the mountains. We love challenging hikes & thriller adventures, and if you're reading this, you might be in the same boat!

With our work schedule, we knew we wanted to enjoy as much of our honeymoon as possible — which meant we didn't want to travel somewhere that would take up too much of our precious vacation time. So we decided to stay in the country and go somewhere we both hadn't been before: UTAH! ..and Nevada, Arizona & California

AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! See for yourself:

We started in Park City, Utah and ended up flying out of Las Vegas, Nevada. For my recommendation though, Park City is not necessary and is too far out of the way. If we were to redo it, we would have saved Park City for a different trip (a skiing trip — that's what it's known for) and instead fly directly into Las Vegas and used the time instead to visit more places surrounding Vegas that are only 2-3 hours away.

Even with spending 3 days in Park City though, we were still able to visit Bryce Canyon and Angel's Landing in Utah, The Grand Canyon (West Rim) in Arizona, and Death Valley National Park in California!

These were all quick day trips from Vegas!!!

Grand Canyon - West Rim, Arizona

Valley of Fire, Nevada

Death Valley National Park, California

Hoover Dam, Nevada

Bryce Canyon, Utah

Zion National Park - Angel's Landing, Utah

ZION WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE OF THE WHOLE TRIP!

There are many other hikes in Zion National Park, though it's most noted for Angel's Landing — 1,500 feet off the canyon floor and reached only by thin rock ledges with the aid of metal chains. If you want a better understanding of the intensity of this hike, you can watch America's Parks full experience in this video! As scary as it looks, it really wasn't that bad and we HIGHLY recommend it!

As for other places you could go to in the surrounding area that we missed includes:

Red Rock Canyon

Lake Mead

So if you're considering a non-beach trip for your honeymoon, I highly recommend flying into Vegas and renting a car. All of these locations are near Vegas, or are within a 2-3 hour drive!

Vegas, of course, is entertaining in and of itself. But its location is literally smack dab in the middle of all these incredible, natural beauties!

So you can either stay in Vegas and drive to these locations, or you can hop around to different hotels like we did! Whatever you choose, the possibilities are endless! We didn't even come close to exploring all that VEGAS itself had to offer.

10/10 recommend!
