Berry Hill Resort: Luxurious but Affordable Virginia Wedding Venue
So you're engaged (congrats!!!) and looking for the perfect venue. If you're like me, I was looking at venues near the Lynchburg area because I went to Liberty and it would be the easiest option for the majority of my guests.
But as I asked around for venue prices within the Lynchburg area, I got discouraged at the extremely high price tags. It's insane how much these venues can charge — but if you think about it, it makes sense. It's simple supply and demand. There are SO many Liberty students choosing to get married in Lynchburg, and there are only so many weekends available. They know they can charge more because someone is willing to pay.
The solution?
Start looking outside of Lynchburg. I promise your guests will still come if it's just an hour away.
That's why we chose Berry Hill Resort — originally a historic antebellum plantation with remarkable Greek Revival architecture — now restored to a full service, destination resort located in South Boston Virginia. This luxurious venue is just an hour outside Lynchburg, and an easy drive from Raleigh, Roanoke, Charlottesville, and Richmond.
Not only is this venue nicer than anything I saw in Lynchburg, it was less expensive. Thousands less compared to what I was being quoted! And it's also a resort, so all your guests have the option to stay there without leaving the venue if they're from out of town!
I had never seen anyone get married here before, and I'm even from Virginia. But thankfully I came across them on The Knot!
On The Knot's description, it claimed that Berry Hill was a one stop shop for all our celebration needs. And I couldn't agree more. They have the capability of a guestroom block, allow for rehearsal dinners, the ceremony, reception, etc. all in one spot! But what sold me was the massive Doric columns, built in emulation of the Parthenon. As soon as I stepped foot on the property, there was no going back!
Though we chose to get married on the steps, there is an option to get married facing the opposite direction with an arch, or you can even get married in the back. The property is truly stunning.

How much do they charge?
Unfortunately I can't share the exact number on here, for several reasons, but I do think that their prices were much more affordable in comparison to almost all the elegant venues within Lynchburg. Of course, it is usually significantly less to just get married at a church. But if you're looking for a picturesque place to tie the knot, I highly recommend you getting a quote from Berry Hill!
What's included?
On their website, they state that all wedding celebrations include coffee, hot tea and iced tea station, bridal party room, gold chivari or banquet chairs, high top cocktail tables, glassware, silverware, china, white linens and napkins, cake table and gift table, staffing for your event, full set-up and break-down, event day coordination, table numbers and stands, votive candles, and complimentary one night accommodations for the bride and groom (my husband and I absolutely loved staying in the mansion for our first night as husband and wife!)
There was more than enough room for a dance floor! And my guests definitely used it!
Keep in Mind
They do require that you use their catering though, including their alcohol (if you choose to have alcohol). So if you're planning on having more than 150 guests, this might not be as affordable of an option in comparison to finding a place where you spend more on the venue, and less on catering.
